Consider saving an orphan
Since the 2010 quake many children in Haiti have been left homeless and without care. But even before the quake, this has been a problem. There are many families who have only one parent left to care for all the children. Often both parents have passed away, leaving the children troubled wondering what will happen to them. Little 12 year old girls are often the sole caretaker in a home where the mother is missing. Life is already difficult with no commodities available.
Although there are many orphanages in Haiti, Living Word Ministries believes there is a better way to care for these suffering little ones. Orphanages are more of an institution, and the sense of family is lost. Because of their poverty, workers will abuse the children. Older children will abuse the younger ones. Sexual abuse is a big problem in orphanages. Living Word believes it to be important to place these children in homes of extended families or friends. These families would gladly help but they are already struggling to feed and clothe their own children.
For $35 a month, one foster family would be able to feed, clothe and educate an orphan. A child can remain within its culture, in a family setting with a relative or loving Christians to care for them. They will grow up with hope. Every month the foster parent and child will report to Living Word as to the progress of the child or problems that are needing to be solved. We believe many families will be encouraged to know that God's people are willing to help them in this venture.
You may send your support annually ($420), semi-annually ($210), quarterly ($105), as well as monthly ($35).
You will be a blessing to the suffering orphans of Haiti.
