House Needed

This couple needs a new house. They have tried for a long time to repair their "house" but just do not have the means to do so. They finally gave up and moved in with another family. This is not good either, as now they are abused and rejected. This may seem strange to think that in a country where poverty is so prevalent that people reject others who are poverty stricken, but this is one of the realities of Haiti. Living Word wants to provide a new block house for them. If you are interested in helping, the cost is $5000. This provides materials, cost of transporting cement and materials to the village, and the masons' wages.

New Home ReceivedThis family recently received a new house from Living Word Ministries

Thank you to all who have donated to the construction project for families whose houses were severally damaged or destroyed from the earthquake or hurricanes. This family of nine was living in a one room hut. They moved into this house before it had a door. They were so excited to have a new home.

Goat Project

Thank you to all who contributed to the Goat Project. Over 60 children received a goat. This was a wonderful way to help families in an ongoing way. The children love to care for their goats, and they do a great job. Some of the goats have already been bred, and have babies. This was so exciting for the children.

The Goats that are in Haiti are not milking goats. We hope this will change in the near future, and that we will be able to have the bigger goat that produces milk which in turn could provide butter and cheese. Thegoats are raised and then sold in the market. The money provides for school expenses as well as family needs. Children would rather have a goat than a toy.

Again, Thank you so much! For those of you who did not know about the project and would still like to be a part of this, go to the donate page and find different options for giving. Please be sure to indicate "goat project". The cost for one goat is $40.

Consider Saving an Orphan

Since the 2010 quake many children in Haiti have been left homeless and without care. But even before the quake, this has been a problem. There are many families who have only one parent left to care for all the children. Often both parents have passed away, leaving the children troubled wondering what will happen to them. Little 12 year old girls are often the sole caretaker in a home where the mother is missing. Life is already difficult with no commodities available.
